JOB DESCRIPTION: The Medical Assistant will provide administrative support to Nurse Practitioners engaged in clinical risk adjustment for assigned Health Plan Members.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists Health Plan Members with scheduling appointments with the Nurse Practitioners (NPs).
• Provide follow-up appointment reminders via call, text and or email.
• Assist Health Plan Member to address any barriers to members completing the scheduled appointment.
• Process all electronic orders as prescribed by the NP.
• Update and maintain accurate documentation of each member encounter in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Keep accurate documentation of appointments made by member.
• Update and maintain accurate documentation of all communication during verbal, non-verbal (electronic correspondence) and text based interactions with each member.
• Follows all Policies and Procedures of SCCP.
• Support program compliance with Performance Goals/Contract Deliverables.
• Document timely member observations, and clinical treatments/management requiring administrative notification of any critical member issues/concerns and laboratory values.
• Participates in all SCCP mandatory and CMS regulatory training.
• Attends all staff meetings – in person or telephonic (if unable to attend, responsible for knowledge of content).
• Abide by principles and laws related to confidentiality.
• Demonstrate respect for individual diversity (culture, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, age, economic status).
• Interact with staff and members to optimize workflow efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistance program.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience Preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in a Customer Service role required.
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Computer Literate – Word, Google Doc and Excel.
• Able to multi-task, manage time and set priorities.
• Able to remain coachable and teachable at all times.
