Laborer

Southland Construction, Inc. is a general contractor providing vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction services in Florida since 1977. Southland has employed as many as 240 full time experienced people with a wide variety of talents second to none in the construction industry. We perform services for both public and private clients with jobs ranging from $200,000 to $100 million.

SCI is looking for individuals to do physical labor on our MOT construction site.

PLEASE NOTE: We are looking for individuals that will be able to work near Lake Buena Vista area and also near Brooksville.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare sites by cleaning them, loading, or unloading materials and removing hazards

· Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions.

· Distribute traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern.

· Day to day work zone set up, maintenance and tear down, meeting, or exceeding state and company expectations.

· Lift, carry and place up to 50 lbs. of traffic cones to ensure the safety of the work zone.

· Lift, carry, place, and assemble traffic control signs in the proper order to manage work zone traffic.

· Keep equipment in trucks well organized and in working order.

· Direct movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand, and flag signals.

· Follow instructions from supervisors

· Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary

· Other responsibilities as required

Requirements:

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· High school diploma or GED

· Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks

· Ability to work in all weather

· Must be punctual and reliable

· Experience as a general laborer in the construction industry is preferred

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
