Associate Accountant - Payroll, Temp to Perm

POSITION SUMMARY

Join our dynamic team at Southland as an Associate Accountant! In this role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions that pertain to payroll. Your keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills will be instrumental in maintaining accurate records to uphold data integrity and compliance with state and federal laws.

You'll thrive in this position if you have a knack for problem-solving, as you'll be tasked with researching and resolving accounting discrepancies efficiently. While working under direct supervision, you'll have the opportunity to elevate more complex issues for resolution, showcasing your ability to analyze and address basic issues effectively.

Your communication skills will shine as you respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers promptly while maintaining confidentiality and discretion. With a basic understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, you'll excel in meeting tight deadlines and adapting to a rapidly changing environment.

 What you’ll do:

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions
• Establish and maintain accurate and appropriate records to ensure data integrity and currency
• Research and resolve straightforward accounting discrepancies and irregularities promptly.  Elevate more complex issues for resolution
• Follow appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that Southland maintains compliance with all state and federal laws as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Respond to internal and external customer inquiries promptly

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Basic accounting knowledge
• Strong organization skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
• Able to analyze and resolve basic issues
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. required 
• Able to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment

What you bring to the table:

• Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred
• 0-3 years of accounting experience preferred
