What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Estimator - Electrical position at Southland Industries Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for one discipline (sheet metal, piping or plumbing). Perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications.
What you’ll do:
Under general guidance:
- Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
- Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines
- May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed
- Develop basic proficiency at ConEST
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Ability to read and interpret HVAC and/or plumbing system specifications
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines
What you bring to the table:
- High school degree or equivalent; some technical training or advanced education preferred
- 2-5 years field controls, project management, CAD, and/or engineering experience related to mechanical construction
