What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA/QC Electrical Coordinator position at Southland Industries Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
Develop, implement, and monitor Brandt’s quality control/quality assurance program for the Electrical Services group. Ensure construction-related processes and materials are compliant with contract specifications, regulatory standards, and Brandt’s safety and operational policies and procedures. Mentor field personnel to ensure QA/QC compliance and proper implementation on a job-by-job basis.
What you’ll do:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Participate in new project planning. Assist with determining the necessary installation technique(s). Develop and implement job-specific QA/QC program prior to each project start-up.
2. Conduct regular walk-through inspections. Evaluate each project and ensure conformance and compliance with contractual specifications, government regulations, and Brandt and OSHA safety requirements.
3. Inspect manufactured products, on-site materials/equipment and installation processes to ensure compliance with contract specifications and regulatory standards.
4. Document and communicate inspection results. Identify and recommend solutions for non-compliant situations.
5. Follow through to ensure 100% compliance and conformance.
6. Schedule and attend all project coordination meetings. Provide QA/QC feedback for each phase of the project.
7. Assess product, compliance, or operational risks. Assist with the development of risk management strategies.
8. Disseminate written policies and procedures related to the QA/QC activities.
9. Interpret specifications and clarify procedural issues for workers.
10. Conduct training on and enforce Brandt’s hot work policy.
11. Conduct and /or oversee company wide training on NFPA 70e.
12. Develop and implement improvements in communication, monitoring, and enforcement of compliance standards.
13. Ensure the maintenance and submittal of appropriate and timely compliance, reports, as contractually required.
14. Discuss violations and potential stop-work orders with project management and supervision. Explain regulations and recommend reclassification.
15. Train, direct and/or oversee subcontractor compliance as necessary.
16. Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
What you’ll need to be successful:
· Journeyman electrician license
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical quality assurance program management
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in conducting NFPA 70e training
· Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, processes, and methods), in voltages up to 15kv
· Thorough knowledge of company policies, procedures and standards
· Advance knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures
· OSHA 30 certification (if not currently certified must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
· Outstanding team building and leadership skills Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems before major difficulties develop
· Solid MS Office skills and ability/desire to learn new software
· Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Brandt’s partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.
