Job Purpose
As a Patient Care Coordinator at Southland Physical Therapy, you will be an integral part of creating a professional, welcoming environment that embodies our core values and mission. This role requires exceptional customer service, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage patient visit schedules and coordinate daily workflow. We are committed to providing exceptional outpatient physical therapy care, with the goal of delivering the best possible patient experience to help individuals live happy and live well.
Please note: This position is considered a 'float' role and may require coverage at our Costa Mesa office when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a professional and welcoming environment for patients during check-in and check-out.
- Communicate and explain insurance coverage clearly to patients.
- Manage patient authorizations and request renewals as necessary.
- Maintain the patient schedule and manage the waitlist to ensure timely access to care.
- Handle all incoming calls, transfer them appropriately, or take messages.
- Address patient inquiries and escalate issues to the Office Manager when needed.
- Collect copays and handle billing transactions accurately.
- Troubleshoot minor office equipment issues.
- Practice discretion and integrity in all job-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards and Southland Physical Therapy policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front office lobby.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Proficient with a multi-line phone system and professional phone etiquette.
Preferred:
- Previous scheduling experience.
- Experience with Google Suite.
- Conversational Korean or Spanish skills.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Fast-paced office environment with standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- Travel to other offices may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Ability to view reports, emails, and EMR on a computer screen for extended periods.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
