Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. As a Diesel Technician at Southland Transportation Group, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks to ensure their optimal performance. This role requires expertise in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of diesel engines, transmission systems, suspension, braking systems, electrical systems, and other heavy-duty vehicle components.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and assessments to identify mechanical issues, report findings, and provide accurate repair estimates.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex engine and vehicle systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with customers, explaining the work performed, and offering recommendations for future maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate service records, including repair details, parts used, and labor hours.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient repairs and customer satisfaction.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest diagnostic tools, repair techniques, and industry trends to enhance your skills and service offerings.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Trade school certification or apprenticeship preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Diesel Technician or similar role in the heavy-duty truck industry.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle systems, components, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical service manuals and diagnostic tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- ASE certifications or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.
