Certified Medical Assistant

As our Certified Medical Assistant, you will assist in the preparation and delivery of medical support services, care coordination and medical case management for SouthLight Integrated Health Care Services. This position also assists in the delivery of medical support services in psychiatric services and other programs as needed.

Full-time days.
Pay
Starting at $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience.

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays. SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
Job Responsibilities of a Certified Medical Assistant
- Escort participants to designated areas
- Accurately record client medications. Notify provider if discrepancy in reconciliation
- Take and record vital signs
- Prepare client for evaluations
- Assist with medical procedures, perform venipuncture, perform basic lab tests
- Set up/clean client areas
- Maintain inventory
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Prepare and administer oral/intramuscular medications as directed and ordered by the
- provider
- Perform EKGs
- Develop educational materials and educate clients about procedures
- Send orders for prescriptions and obtain prior approval for procedures and medication
- Processing referrals through pharmaceutical companies for client medications/samples
- Serve as the liaison to Pharmaceutical Representatives for Medical Services and coordinates events and educational meetings with these reps
Qualifications of a Certified Medical Assistant
Education and Experience
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program
- 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant with at least one year working in a medical practice.
- Experience in a Psychiatric or Community Behavioral Health Setting preferred
Licensure/Certifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Self-Starter who takes initiative to improve processes and client experiences
- Ability to communicate with clients regarding reports, follow up and options for continuing care
- Ability to research and find appropriate referrals and resources for clients
- Knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment, Psychiatric Services, Behavioral Health Services and services for Substance Use Disorders
- Ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to support multiple programs and participant needs

Salary : $18 - $20
