As our EMS Certified Peer Support Specialist, you will provide individualized, strengths focused interactions with individuals referred by personnel from the Harnett County Detention Center and Harnett County EMS for individuals whom are identified with OUD treatment needs. The purpose of this role is to engage and connect to treatment options and other appropriate services as needed.
The Certified Peer Support Specialist will assist in the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills as well as building independent living skills through modeling and coaching. This is a community-based role - we provide mileage reimbursement!
Pay
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, daytime.

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Job Responsibilities of a Jail/ EMS Peer Support Specialist
- Aid in development of functional skills (managing medication routines, budgeting skills, learning how to access health care, independent daily living skills)
- Provide linkage to community resources
- Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, service notes, service authorization requests, required data collection)
- Assist supervisor with timely response to new referrals and tracking contacts with clients
- Respond within 72 hours with Rapid Response team to individual who have had an Overdose reversed by Narcan
- Assist program participants with the release from jail and re-entry to the community
- Accompany program participants to appointments in the community
- Accompany to follow-up court appointments
Job Requirements of a Jail/ EMS Peer Support Specialist
- HS diploma or GED
- Current Peer Support Certification preferred (can assist in obtaining upon hire, if needed)
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
- Minimum of 1 year working with the adult Mental Health/Substance Use population, preferably in a community setting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records
