Certified Peer Support Specialist Peer Bridger - Wake County Detention Center

As our Certified Peer Support Specialist Peer Bridger, you will promote development of wellness, self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills while building trust and developing face-to-face relationships with the residents of the Wake County Detention Center (WCDC).

Additionally the Certified Peer Support Specialist Peer Bridger will attend treatment / pre-release meetings, and link individuals with community resources identified in their release plan. The objective is to encourage and support the individual's engagement in post-release services.

This position works primarily out of the Wake County Detention Center.

Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Friday.

You will be eligible for medical benefits the first of the month following your first 30 days. We have options for a standard plan, as well as an HSA with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. You would receive 10 paid holidays as well as PTO hours which would accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months you would be eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. We also provide company paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and paid credentialing. SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Job Responsibilities of a Peer Support Peer Bridger

  • Aid in development of functional skills (managing medication routines, budgeting skills, learning how to access health care, independent daily living skills, etc.)
  • Provide linkage to community resources
  • Maintain and submit required documentation (treatment plans, service notes, required data collection etc.)
  • Participate in skill-building activities to increase ability to integrate recovery and wellness practices into daily activities
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to conditions that constitute an emergency
  • Provides input into the Person-Centered Plan
  • Model the mission of SouthLight Healthcare and exemplify values in all professional interactions as representatives of Peer Support Program and SouthLight Healthcare

Qualifications of a Peer Support Peer Bridger

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum of 1 year working with the adult MH / SA population in a community setting
  • Licensure / Certifications

  • Active Certification in NC as Peer Support Specialist (can obtain upon hire)
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens training, and NCI
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of county resources and opportunities
  • Great "people skills" and an ability to make lasting community connections
  • Ability to learn other technological recording methods i.e. EMRs / EHRs
  • Ability to work in a team model that changes regularly as needed
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent change in work flow based on client need and service structure
  • HIPPA and Substance Abuse specific confidentiality and privacy rights
