What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Spring Tax Internship position at SouthPoint CPA, Inc.?
SouthPoint CPA, Inc. (SPCPA) offers paid internships to college seniors, as well as graduate students who are interested in a career in accounting. The internship for Spring 2025 will be tax and small business accounting focused and will require at least a 20 hour per week commitment. Students are encouraged to apply for an internship when he/she is one to two semesters away from being CPA eligible (150 total credit hours and 30 hours of accounting). SPCPA will work with accredited colleges who offer college credit for coop or intern positions. All tuition and fees will remain the responsibility of the intern.
Eligibility:
- Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited college as a Senior or beyond.
- Student must have completed 15 hours of accounting courses.
- Student must have completed the Individual Income Tax course.
- Student must have completed the Business Income Tax course.
- Student must have basic computer skills.
- Student must have a GPA of at least a 3.2
Requirement and Procedure:
Upon acceptance to the internship, Interns must:
- Be subject to SPCPA firm policies and professional standards
- Be classified as a temporary seasonal team member and not eligible for paid leave & benefits
- Work part time (20 hours per week minimum) during Spring semester
- Hours worked are flexible but must be worked in at least 4 hour blocks
- Complete a mid-semester review and an exit interview with their supervisor
- Internship can be renewed for part-time work during summer or fall semester based on firm needs and intern performance.
