Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Responsible for overall departmental operations, including planning, scheduling, and product delivery. Travel to loading locations is needed for inspections and new location loading sites. Monitor the seaworthiness of log barges, addressing damage or maintenance issues promptly.
- Maritime Transportation Management: coordinate vessel traffic in the barge slip, managing log barges, chip barges, and rock barges. Maintain critical infrastructure like bulkheads, dock rails, and rock jetties while arranging log barges' loading and offloading operations. Coordinate crane operators and mechanics, overseeing the maintenance of cranes utilized in these operations. Ensure compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations for log barge documentation and coordinate third-party inspections for crane certification and load line compliance.
- Team Leadership and Development: Leads and motivates the team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Goal Setting and Priority Management: Collaborates with the team to set goals aligned with strategic objectives and establishes KPIs to measure progress.
- Budget Management: Manages departmental budget, allocating resources effectively and maximizing profitability.
- Employee Engagement and Well-being: Promotes employee engagement and creates a positive work environment.
- Performance Management: Oversees performance evaluations, goal setting, and career development planning for team members.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensures a safe work environment and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma.
- Experience: At least three years of experience in maritime management and supervision. Must also be an experienced diesel mechanic.
- Skills: Ability to lead a team. Attention to detail. Acute mechanical ability. Experienced Diesel Mechanic. Ability to travel to off-site locations with short notice.
- Crane certified preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Sustained walking on both levels and uneven ground frequently requires prolonged standing, bending, and reaching.
- Climbing up and down steep inclines, logging machinery, and equipment is frequently required.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy environments.
