Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on machinery and equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems. Disassemble, inspect and reassemble machinery parts. Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential problems.
- Installation: Install new machinery and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards. Ensure proper alignment, fit, and assembly of mechanical components. Work with engineers and other technicians to plan and execute installation projects.
- Fabrication: Build metal handrail, machine guard, and fixed climbing ladder. Build and install a catwalk with a handrail and a staircase to OSHA standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety and environmental regulations and company policies. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Participate in safety training and meetings.
- Technical Expertise: Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Utilize various tools and equipment, including welding machines (wire, TIG, & stick), lathes, grinders, and hand tools. Operate machine tools to include key cutter and drill press. Perform advanced welding techniques. Possess working knowledge of metallurgy. Operate Hyster (lift truck) and crane. Stay updated on industry advancements and new technologies. Possess working knowledge of rigging equipment, rules, and procedures. Work within CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) technology.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure optimal machinery performance. Provide guidance and training to Millwright 1 position and apprentices. Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues about maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work. Document equipment performance and any modifications made. Report any major issues or recurring problems to management.
General Performance: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified millwright apprenticeship program or relevant vocational training preferred. Pertinent certifications in millwrighting, welding, and safety training are preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three to five years of experience as a millwright in an industrial setting, preferably in the forest products industry.
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude. Proficiency in various hand and power tools. Experienced with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Welding and fabrication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Bending, twisting, and stooping are continuously required.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy environments.

This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing industrial machinery and equipment. It involves working independently and as part of a team, applying intermediate skills and knowledge to ensure the efficient operation of production machinery. Additionally, the Experienced Millwright will mentor the less experienced team members to help strengthen their knowledge and skills.
