Service Technician
A Diesel Technician is responsible for providing the highest quality repair services to Southport Truck Group’s customers and maintaining exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair general heavy and medium-duty trucks
- Document all repairs and pertinent information to the work performed and track job time on in-house business system(s) via a repair order
- Perform preventive maintenance as needed
- Tag and document all warranty and core items appropriately
- Assist other Technicians in more difficult and complex maintenance and repair tasks if needed
- Maintain and enhance mechanical knowledge and stay current on required OE training
- Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
- Adhere to and promote stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, security, and quality management. Recognize and report all accidents and hazardous conditions
- Quality Inspection tests on repaired vehicles
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience working on heavy/medium duty trucks or formal training from technical school
- Diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment utilized within heavy/medium duty truck
- Possess work-related hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools)
- A neat and organized approach to work & reporting
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to meet attendance requirement
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
- Ability to drive company and customer vehicles
Preferred
- Valid Class A or Class B, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
