Operations Supervisor

Southside Blooms is looking to add an Operations Supervisor to its team. 

Based on the south side of Chicago, Southside Blooms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is a farm-to-vase florist providing unique and fashion-forward arrangements while maintaining an uncompromising dedication to the environment and its surrounding communities. Role

As an Operations Supervisor, you will oversee daily operations for both the flower shop and farm to ensure efficiency, quality, and alignment with Southside Blooms’ mission. This role includes managing workflows, supervising team members, coordinating flower production and farm operations, and mentoring youth participants as part of Southside Blooms’ community development initiatives.

Your Core Contributions To The Team

• Supervise daily operations across both the flower shop and farm, including production, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
• Develop and optimize workflows to ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently met for both farm harvests and floral production.
• Mentor and work with youth participants, providing hands-on training in operational processes and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
• Oversee intake and organization of floral inventory and harvest yields, ensuring proper care and adherence to sustainability standards.
• Manage farm operations, including planting schedules, crop management, and harvest logistics to meet production goals.
• Collaborate with retail and delivery teams to fulfill customer orders and maintain satisfaction.
• Track and report on team performance, production metrics, and farm yield data, identifying opportunities for process improvement.

About You

Knowledge, abilities, and qualifications

• Proven experience in operations, logistics, or production management, with an emphasis on agriculture or floral production preferred.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for working with youth.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to Southside Blooms' mission, sustainability, and community development.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather conditions.

All The Other Stuff

This position reports to the Founder and President and is a non-exempt position. 

This is a full-time position, requiring 8 hour shifts that occur Monday through Friday, including evening shifts and/or weekend shifts as needed. Overtime may be required.
