SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES : Reporting the Director of College and Academic Planning, the College and Academic Counselor is responsible for assisting the Director of College and Academic Planning with tasks associated with the College and Academic Planning (CAP) office. In addition, the CAP Counselor is responsible for organizing college visits on campus and fielding emails from admissions counselors hoping to visit SCS.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinate the annual NACCAP Christian College Fair.
- Work with the Director of CAP and other CAP counselor to coordinate assigned standardized and high school academic testing : Pre-ACT, PSAT, Advanced Preparatory, and US Exams.
- Conduct graduation planning meetings yearly with assigned case load.
- Annually assist in preparing the High School Academic Profile, High School Information Sheet, and High School Academic Handbook.
- Assist in building the master schedule by facilitating student course requests.
- Prepare documents, spreadsheets, and data that contains standardized testing data, alumni grade information, and other useful data for the CAP Office.
- Attend conferences and professional development at the discretion of the Director of CAP.
- Assist with the setup and distribution of information for all events originating from the CAP Office.
- Organize Senior activities, track senior progress and create / edit any necessary paperwork.
- Assist with graduation details with Herff-Jones, facilities, faculty, and students.
- Assist in sending letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc. to colleges for applications.
- Send out communications from CAP office to include emails, weekly updates to advancement, and put together the monthly Counselors Corner.
- Organize college visits on campus & field all emails from admissions counselors wanting to visit SCS.
- Update and change the bulletin boards with current information.
- Administer the Senior Exit Survey.
- Coordinate tasks with Advancement Office such as marketing, alumni information, etc.
- Keep up to date with School Counseling best practices.
- Facilitate College Planning Night
- Assist with creating summer academic workshops for high school students and conduct summer meetings with new students.
- Assist in overseeing SC Virtual classes, SevenStar or other online classes and as well as any independent study classes taken on campus including proctoring any / all exams.
- Serve as a volunteer representative for SCS on the Greenville County College Fair Planning Committee
- Assist Director of CAP with any needs that arise throughout the school year.
- Other projects as assigned by the Director of CAP.
