What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Teacher, Fulltime, 2025-2026 School Year position at Southside Christian School?
Specific grade level assignment will depend on strengths and experiences of candidates as well as current teachers.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Elementary School Principal, the elementary school teacher will effectively teach from a biblical worldview while managing a classroom and building positive relationships with students and parents.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively manage a classroom.
- Teach all elementary school subjects from a biblical worldview and with excellence.
- Create an engaging, relational, and joy-filled learning environment with the students.
- Provide excellence in planning, teamwork, and communication.
- Be creative, have a strong work ethic, and think "outside the box".
- Work in a team centered environment.
- Include biblical integration in all subjects.
- Engage students in inquiry-based activities.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
- Have a commitment to the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of Christian schooling as expressed by Southside Christian School demonstrated by their eligible children enrolled in Southside Christian School.
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education is required.
- Candidates with experience in teaching elementary school is preferred.
- All candidates must be willing to obtain ACSI certification.
- Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to evacuate students in the event of emergency.
- Ability to sit, bend, stand, as needed in interactions with students.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
