What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach - Stipend Position position at Southside Christian School?
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Head Coach, the assistant coach is responsible to promote the philosophy of Southside Christian School Athletics and sport's program. This is a stipend position.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- taking ownership/stewardship of their facility to assure cleanliness, proper use, and a proper attitude toward the facility by student athletes using it under their supervision.
- collecting and inventorying uniforms at the end of the season.
- attending required in-service meetings each year.
- upholding and supporting the SCS school philosophy and athletic philosophy.
- knowing and enforcing the Athletic Handbook.
- completing the NFHS online courses required by the SCHSL before the first day of practice.
- completing the required CPR certification prior to the first day of practice. This is an SCHSL requirement.
- being aware of general SCHSL guidelines and those related to their particular sport.
- having team in the strength training center.
- having a strong desire and ability to disciple young ladies.
- answering directly to the volleyball head coach.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
- Must be a spiritually mature, veteran Christian coach who agrees with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment, and Statement of Faith.
- Must be a person with proven spiritual, moral, and leadership qualities, and be capable of developing a strong rapport with fellow coaches and student athletes and the SCS community.
- The ideal candidate will be able to teach/coach volleyball.
- Must have experience as a volleyball coach at the middle or high school level or at the recreational level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Assistant coaches must be able to demonstrate techniques and skills of the sport.
- Assistant coaches must be able to be physically active for extended periods, including standing, walking, and moving around the field or court.
- Assistant coaches must be able to lift and carry equipment related to the sport.
- Assistant coaches must be able to visually monitor athletes for their safety, which can require good eyesight and the ability to stand for long periods.
