About the role

The Patient Care Representative / Optician plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient flow, providing excellent customer service, and assisting clients with eyeglass services. This dual-role position includes administrative responsibilities as well as hands-on optical duties.

What you"ll do

Key Responsibilities :

Schedule and confirm appointments and ensure patient registration is accurate.

Verify insurance information and assist with sliding fee applications.

Collect payments and answer patient billing questions.

Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, take measurements, and perform adjustments or repairs.

Order glasses and contacts, coordinate with optical labs, and maintain inventory.

Dispense glasses and educate patients on proper care and usage.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain a clean and orderly clinic environment.

Experience and Requirements :

Proficiency with computers; experience with Epic software preferred.

Previous experience in clinical scheduling is a plus.

Bilingual (English / Spanish) skills preferred but not required.

Position Details and Benefits :

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with a starting pay rate of $23 / hour , increasing up to $25 / hour for experienced opticians . The work schedule typically consists of four 10-hour days with Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday off though there is some flexibility.

Effective communication skills are essential for interaction with team members and patients. Light lifting (up to 5 lbs.) and occasional use of cleaning products may be required.
