About the role
The Referral Specialist - Dental plays a vital role in assisting patients and expediting the process of internal and external referrals. This position ensures the seamless coordination of care through accurate record-keeping, effective communication, and a patient-centered approach.
What you"ll do
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
- Manage internal referral queues and follow up with providers as needed.
- Create and manage electronic external referral queues in the EHR system.
- Coordinate dental record workflows, including laboratory / x-ray results and images.
- Manage incoming faxes and upload received records to patient charts.
- Ensure all internal / external referrals are completed and managed according to SCHS policy.
- Pre-chart appointments related to records and referrals.
- Assist patients in scheduling internal and external referral appointments.
- Scan and upload paper referrals and clinical documentation into patient charts.
- Confidentially maintain referrals and records, ensuring proper consent for releasing protected health information.
- Track and document referrals to ensure quality care and outcomes, following up with providers and patients as needed.
- Assist patients in navigating healthcare-related issues, including access to transportation services.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and committees.
