About the Company:
The Assistant Civil Engineer performs professional civil engineering work in the planning, design, technical investigation, review and inspection, and construction of projects in the area of public works including transportation, hydraulics, and structural engineering.
About the Role:
Perform a variety of tasks related to civil engineering, including preparing plans and specifications for construction projects, researching project design requirements, performing complex calculations, preparing estimates of material costs, and preparing project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign tasks and review work completed by technical subordinates.
- Research codes, standards, publications, and industry information sources.
- Participate in the development and revision of design and construction standards.
- Implement agency programs and coordinate major projects.
- Investigate and resolve field problems affecting clients and contractors.
- Determine survey, mapping, and data collection needs for projects.
- Prepare estimates, schedules, and feasibility reports for new or modified services and structures.
- Review and process plans for private developments affecting streets, water, and wastewater.
- Check plans for compliance with agency standards, codes, and ordinances.
- Prepare special engineering studies and reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline related to the area of assignment. Two years of increasingly responsible experience in engineering work in the area(s) of assignment. Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate.
