The Position - In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and performing duties within the composting operation. The position is responsible for the facility grounds which may consist of operating various pieces of heavy equipment. You must be able to work well without close/direct general supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Report to work at the designated time in company uniform and with required personal protective equipment.
• Supervise/work with a team of equipment operators to perform the tasks required of the facility.
• Operates and monitors the performance of general operations, including plant equipment such as loaders, excavators, vacuum trucks, etc.
• Coordinates scheduling of inbound deliveries with the operation to ensure we are poised to serve our customers.
• Supervises staff scheduling and daily performance.
• Manages routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment operated.
• Maintains facility compliance with all applicable state permits and local ordinances that govern the facility.
• Available for scheduled shifts, including holidays, weekends, and overtime if needed.
• Attend the monthly mandatory safety meeting.
• Perform laborer/groundsman duties as needed.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Background & Experience Requirements:

• 2 years of composting experience.
• 2 years of supervisor experience.
• 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment (yellow).
• Willingness to attend state (TCEQ) classes to learn about the operation and further knowledge.
• Municipal Solid Waste B License (MSW), is preferred.
• Must have a Valid Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Qualifications, & Skills:

• Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English sufficiently to respond to official inquiries, and make written entries on reports, required logs and records, and other business-related documents.
• Ability to assign tasks, and oversee employees’ work, while working in conjunction with them.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, contracted agencies and workers, other employees, supervisory personnel, and the public.
• Ability to follow established safety procedures.
• Be highly motivated and self-directed.
