POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Wastewater Plant Technician, under the direction of the Plant Manager, oversees the operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves supervising a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, optimizing plant processes, and troubleshooting equipment issues. The Lead Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the quality of effluent and the overall efficiency of the treatment facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work alongside a team of wastewater technicians to ensure effective daily operations and maintenance tasks.
• Partner with the plant manager to address team member performance and behavioral issues.
• Schedule and assign work duties, ensuring optimal staffing levels for facility operations.
• Monitor and adjust treatment processes to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Develop action plans collaboratively to resolve identified issues and ensure optimal functionality and safety.
• Collaborate with the team to manage both routine and emergency maintenance for treatment equipment and machinery.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Ensure that all operations adhere to environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Prepare and submit reports for regulatory agencies as required.
• Analyze data from monitoring systems to optimize plant performance and efficiency.
• Generate and present reports on plant operations, maintenance activities, and compliance status.
• Work with the team to develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans for potential incidents.
• Act as a first responder for plant emergencies, coordinating actions to mitigate impacts.
• Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision of Wastewater Plant Technicians and assigning daily tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications

CERTIFICATIONS:

• State wastewater treatment operator certification (Class II or higher) or equivelant is preferred
• OSHA safety training is a plus
• First aid/CPR ertification is a plus
• Confined space entry certification is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; associate degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and technologies
• Proficient in the operation and maintenance of treatment plant equipment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and environmental compliance.
