VP/Controller - Real Estate

Growing REIT is looking to a Controller that has both accounting and tax experience.

This is an in-office role with hybrid responsibilities.  Salary range is $160,000 - $210,000 base plus bonus.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting functions and tax compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and tax laws to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with business goals. This position requires a seasoned professional with strong technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance.

Responsibilities :

• Lead month-end close processes, and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits for multiple legal entities.
• Champion operational excellence through collaboration, process improvement, leveraging best practices, and promoting automation and technology to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Ensure timely compliance with federal, state and international tax laws and regulations for both US and Canadian asset portfolios.
• Provide guidance to executive management and investors, ensuring alignment with business strategies and objectives, specifically with REIT compliance.
• Serve as a key point of contact for tax-related inquiries and information sharing with investors and key stakeholders.
• Assess and mitigate tax risks associated with business operations, transactions, and regulatory changes.
• Review proposed acquisitions / dispositions and initiatives to assess compliance implications and recommend solutions.
• Develop and motivate a team that will excel in a fast-paced, hyper-growth setting.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting and tax policies & procedures.
• Ensures a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
