Description
The Credit Analyst provides full support to the Commercial Lending Officers and is primarily responsible for underwriting financial transactions involving commercial loans. In addition, the credit analyst ensures that proper credit/collateral documentation is obtained, identifies any deviations to loan policy, participates in loan closings and assists in the ongoing monitoring of credits.
- Spread all fiscal year end (and interim, if needed) financial statements as they are received; addressing any major differences with the loan officer, and notating such in the loan application write-up. Calculate and include cash flow calculations in the spread, and explain how such was derived.
- Prepare loan applications for all commercial loans. This includes detailed information about the borrower, the loan request and history of the company and their relationship with the bank. This also includes pulling credit reports on personal guarantors, OFAC checks, loan pricing calculations and the notation of any existing exceptions for the borrower. Also works closely with the loan officer to let them know what documentation is needed for the annual review of all commercial credits.
- Prepare loan packages for loan committee, arrange and advise loan personnel of upcoming meetings, and prepare minutes for these meetings. Also monitor which loans need SLC or Board Approval and notate accordingly.
- Pull maturing loan reports and get with loan officers to determine which loans will be renewed and what is required for renewal. Work with loan officer to clear financial and documentation exceptions on booked loans.
- Monitor all loan agreements, which includes calculating borrow bases and tracking financial covenants and requirements. Notate exceptions in tickler tracking system.
- Must be familiar with the loan policy of the bank to ensure that exceptions to such are notated on the loan application.
- Scan financial information to the loan files after spreads and analysis are completed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required. Accounting or finance degree strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
- Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.
