Summary/Objective
The part-time Student Life Coordinator provides general assistance to the Vice President for Student Development and coordinates specific functions as assigned by the Vice President. The Student Life Coordinator serves on the Student Development Management Team, coordinates Office of Student Life activities, helps synchronize housing assignments for student residents, helps manage work-study students, and upholds administrative assistant responsibilities while engaging students as they journey through life and earning their SBU degree.
Essential Job Duties
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Confidentiality is essential and paramount, especially with student records and personnel information

- Sets an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty
- Commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University’s Principles and Expectations
- Directly assists the Vice President for Student Development in administrative duties and helps coordinate the Vice President’s schedule
- Manages the daily operations of the Student Life Office
- Engages students and employees in an active productive manner that brings encouragement
- Communicates regularly with admissions, accounting services, cashier, and the registrar specific to student and parent questions and concerns
- Utilizes Colleague, Maxient, eRezLife, Excel, Word, and other software as needed
- Coordinates Student Life work-study responsibilities.
- Purchases and maintains office supplies, forms, and files
- Helps facilitate Student Development communication through the Portal and Digital Signage
- Helps update the University Student Handbook annually
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position directly supervises the student volunteers who participate as Student Life Agents.
- This position oversees student workers employed by the Office of Student Life.
Position Requirements
Required
- Previous experience with skill sets and job related background
- Experience working with students and social media outlets
- Experience working software products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree with higher education work experience.
- Collegiate experience working within Student Development
Work Environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Must be able to work in a typical office environment with an uplifting attitude prepared to assist students and fellow employees.
Physical Abilities
- Occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Should be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine and computer printer
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for transporting students to and from coordinated activities.
