Part and full-time (unbenefited) summer program and client respite openings. Position serves youth in our community experiencing behavior disorders or emotional impairment to provide engaging activities and skills development to succeed. A valid driver's license is required to transport youth to/from the agency. Summer hours available Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm. Current part-time after school vacancies now working Monday - Thursday from 3pm to 8pm. Option to continue working afternoons during the school year.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of entry level technical duties as needed to provide residential support, skills training and case management services to adult and youth client in Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders programs.

Works under the general supervision of the Program Manager and direct supervision of the Team Leader

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Manages work time effectively by prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment, while dealing with clients' needs, staff support, and agency demands.
  • Meets target productivity standards.
  • Establishes and maintains open communications with all team members and supports teams' decisions. Communicates with other staff and supervisor to assure accurate recording of client information in the electronic record system.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation including Assessments, Treatment Plans and Reviews, Safety Plans, Progress notes, Discharge notes, program logs, correspondence, and other required documentation in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner according to Center mandates.
  • Attends staff training as directed by supervisor; completes E-learning assignments within timeframe.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings.
  • Participates in the development of Integrated Recovery Plan goals and objectives as directed by each client's Recovery Coordinator. Works with clients and the clinical team to facilitate accomplishment of each client's treatment goals and objectives.
  • Participates in client progress evaluations during weekly Team meetings.
  • Provides shift coverage: arrives promptly according to schedule, confers with supervisor over any schedule changes. Will work evenings and weekends when scheduled.
  • Assists in intake paperwork and orientation process with clients.
  • Assists in developing and facilitating skills training for clients, both individually and in a group setting. Works with client to improve skills in the areas of hygiene, meal planning and/or preparation, laundry, house cleaning, appropriate entertainment, personal finance, etc. as needed. Works to motivate and support clients by modeling and teaching self-esteem building.
  • May assist client in preparation and processing of applications or other documents affecting financial entitlement by linking the client with funding agencies.
  • Monitors the activities of clients.
  • Uses non-violent crisis intervention to diffuse client escalations.
  • Schedules and coordinates client activities with team members during weekly team meetings, requesting and receiving approval from supervisor for the activity.
  • Transports clients to and from appointments and on recreational activities, completing all necessary forms before and after transporting.
  • Assures facility is clean and safe.
  • When assigned, serves as client's Representative Payee, assisting clients in the budgeting and expenditure of personal finances. Accurate and current records are kept of all financial activities for each assigned client.
  • When assigned, will assist with the monitoring of client medication adherence within the facility or in the community and will be able to document accordingly.
  • When assigned, works with clients and community businesses to help clients obtain permanent, competitive employment.
  • When assigned, collects client urine for testing according to random schedule; uses testing supplies to test urine for alcohol and/or other drugs according to Center/program policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education and Experience

A. High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g: GED); one to two years of college education in psychology, social work or related field is preferred,

AND

B. Three to six months experience working in a social service program preferred,

OR

C. Equivalent combination or education and related experience.

2. Able to pass background check (BCI).

3. Valid Driver's License.

4. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A. Some knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment programs; some knowledge of community and regional resources engaged in social problem solving; some knowledge of personal financial management; some knowledge of practical consumer buying practices.

B. Ability to: develop effective professional working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and the public; to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; to work independently and manage work assignments in a high interpersonal contact environment; to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow ethical guidelines and Center/Program policies, procedures, and protocols.

C. Demonstrates skills: in establishing priorities, working independently, and proceeding with objectives without direct supervision when appropriate; in creativity in handling and resolving problems; in time management principles as it applies to scheduled appointments, meeting obligations, paperwork, encompassing all job duties; and in conflict resolution.

D. Is familiar with food preparation techniques for up to 40 people at a time. Knows basics of comparison shopping, managing budgets allocated to kitchen, safe food handling techniques, and able to work with a food manager on food related issues, menus, and meal preparation.

E. Must be proficient in use of computer and have keyboarding skills in order to enter and retrieve client's electronic records. General knowledge of Microsoft office and Google Suite software preferred.

5. Special Qualifications

A. CPR/First Aid certification (within 30-days and upon expiration)

B. Yearly certification in Non-Violent Crisis Management

C. Food Handlers Permit (when required)

D. Certification or ability to be certified as a peer support specialist preferred

Pay: From $16.33 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 36 per week
