What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Analyst position at Southwest Capital Bank?
Develops credit facts and information by reviewing, analyzing, and processing loan requests to assist Lending Officers or Committees in decision making on new, renewals / extension of loans and modification of existing credits. This includes analyzing borrower/guarantor financial information on an ongoing basis and assisting with monitoring the loan portfolio.
Essential Functions
- Prepare underwriting analysis for new loan requests, loan renewals and modifications, which includes a detailed analysis of financial performance, financial condition, industry and market analysis, and identification of key risks and mitigating factors.
- Prepare financial projections and stress tests.
- Analysis of various loan types include, but not limited to:
- Commercial Real Estate (Owner and Non-Owner Occupied), Commercial and Industrial, Construction and Development Loans (Commercial and Residential).
- Participate with Lending Officers in:
- Proposing Credit recommendation to Lending Committee and Board of Directors.
- Structuring loan requests based on client needs, while ensuring sound lending practices.
- Client meetings to determine needs / opportunities and present solutions via profitable, proposed loan structures and terms, while keeping the client’s financial goals in mind.
- Preparation of Credit Memorandums including a sound recommendation based on financial and credit support, risk, and strengths and weaknesses.
- Proactively communicate timely updates and deliver final loan presentations within the established service standard timeframe.
- Monitor Loan Agreements including financial covenants and Borrowing Base compliance.
- Review Borrowing Base Certificates as required to identify potential or developing issues.
- Prepare significant relationship monitoring reports on an as needed basis for board of directors.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to work well across functional lines (i.e. Loan Assistants, Lending Officers, Front-Line, and all operational areas).
- Stays informed of economic and banking industry developments and practices:
- Participate in developmental events and programs sponsored by the Risk Management Association (RMA), American Bankers Association (ABA), or other similar organizations, as well as the Bank’s internal training program.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Competencies
- Comply with bank regulations and policies, procedures.
- Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of the laws and regulations that apply to loans and loan documentation.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of customer confidentiality and office security.
- Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related experience.
- Two years prior credit analyst experience and/or related training.
- Familiar with Commercial Loan documentation and administration functionality.
