For over 25 years, Southwest Care Center (SCC) has been providing exceptional healthcare to the communities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM. We are a non-profit, FQHC-LAL providing medical, behavioral health, case management, community outreach, diabetes education, and pharmacy services. We are proud to offer gender equity medicine, syringe exchange, and HIV/Hep C treatment, testing and other services within our communities.

Southwest Care Center is currently seeking an experienced full-time Clinical Services Manager RN supporting our three clinics in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Candidates must be willing to work in both locations as needed.


Position Details:

Reporting to the Director of Clinical & Quality Outcomes and in collaboration with Clinic Managers, the Clinical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing clinical services across multiple clinic sites, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with evidence-based practices. This role collaborates closely with the Director of Clinical & Quality Outcomes and clinic managers to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and support clinical staff in working at the top of their scope and skillset.

The Clinical Services Manager ensures compliance with regulatory standards, maintains a focus on continuous improvement, and drives the development of initiatives to enhance patient care and organizational outcomes. Additionally, the role provides leadership and guidance in policy development, and the management of clinical programs, with a strong emphasis on promoting best practices, addressing areas of concern, and fostering a culture of high performance. The Clinical Services Manager further plays a key role in enhancing operational effectiveness, reducing risk, and contributing to the strategic goals of the organization.

Position responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • In collaboration with Director of Clinical & Quality Outcomes and clinic managers, this position is responsible for the oversight and direction of clinical services across clinic sites by ensuring clinical workflows are streamlined, evidence-based practices are utilized, and staff with clinical licenses and/or certifications can work at the top of their scope and skillset to provide high quality patient-centered care.
  • Identify and participate in process improvement and development within the clinics.
  • Bridge the gap between clinic operations and quality assurance/population health by representing clinic needs in the development of initiatives and workflows.
  • Analyzes activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Monitors patient care services, ensuring they meet organizational guidelines, and patient needs and develops and implements remediation plans as needed.
  • Provides oversight and direction for assigned projects related to clinical products and services.
  • Identifies work related problems with workable solutions and implements appropriate solutions.
  • Assists in team member management including hiring, training, management, development, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Responsible for annual performance evaluations of direct reporting staff.
  • Participates in formulating and administering clinic policies and workflows. Continuous monitoring for sustainability and identification of areas of concern.
  • Assists in the planning and developing programs and proposals to support current or innovative programs.
  • Assists in annual fiscal planning by analyzing and organizing office operations and procedures to ensure all departmental needs are met.
  • Perform ongoing assessment and monitoring of clinical operations to ensure standardization and effectiveness of workflows.
  • Identify needed improvements in clinical operations and assist Clinic Managers to improve areas of concern.
  • Set standards of excellence for clinical cleanliness and monitor performance according to these standards through routine inspections and evaluations.
  • Function as the resident expert of organizational policies and procedures as they impact the operations of the clinic.
  • Interpret policies when there is question or concern related to the applicability of certain policies.
  • Develop and revise policies to ensure care is provided according to governmental regulations and in a clean, safe, patient friendly environment.
  • Responsible for all clinical operations’ regulatory compliance with responsibility for development, implementation, and on-going survey readiness.
  • Manage key functions in Compliatric Platform used for regulatory compliance and tracking.
  • Responsible for the oversight and upkeep of the software platform used to store and update policies and procedures.
  • Serves as chair/facilitator of the Policy and Forms Committee.
  • Collaborates with other members of the management/leadership team to ensure all policies and procedures are reviewed and updated timely by the appropriate leader and remain in compliance with organizational policy and procedure expectations.

  • Review and evaluate clinical policies, processes, and procedures and evaluate for areas of potential risk and work with Director of Clinical and Quality Outcomes Management and other team members to develop strategies to strengthen policies, process, and procedures by addressing and mitigating risk factors and infusing them with evidence-based best practices.
  • Assist Director of Clinical and Quality Outcomes Management in investigations and/or responding to government agencies or accrediting bodies as needed.
  • Serve as PCMH content expert and oversight for activities to maintain compliance with core criteria.
  • Oversee care plan activities and provide ongoing training to nursing staff as needed, data to clinic leadership, and hands-on support in care planning efforts as needed.
  • If any deficiencies throughout the reporting year are identified, develop a workplan to ensure that deficiency is corrected and mitigated moving forward.
  • Serve as ongoing and continual oversight for all nursing related care and initiatives across the organization.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical and Quality Outcomes Management in researching, implementing, and evaluating initiatives and programs related to nurse driven revenue (i.e., increasing and expanding nurse lead visits, maximizing clinic nurse schedules, evaluating billing practices to look for maximum potential in billing of nurse led clinic activities).
  • Lead efforts to develop and implement a Chronic Condition Management Plan and Program for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical and Quality Outcomes Management to regularly evaluate care and services provided by the clinic teams and identify opportunities for efficiencies, waste reduction, risk mitigation, and/or enhancement of care and services to drive additional revenue/reduce fiscal waste.
  • Work with in-clinic leadership to standardize clinical practices, increase efficiency of clinical staff, and work toward the goal of providing a high-quality consistent experience to patients regardless of which SCC site they visit.
  • Maintains professional licensure and development of knowledge and skills needed to bring innovation and expertise to the position.
  • Serves as interim Clinic Manager as needed in absence of Clinic Manager due to vacation or separation.
  • Provides clinical supervision to RNs in clinics with non-RN clinic managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Highlights:

  • Experience: Minimum (5) years’ RN experience with 3 years in a primary care/ambulatory clinic setting serving in a leadership role with oversight of all the aforementioned areas. Federally Qualified Health Center or FQHC Look-Alike experience and Athena EMR experience highly desired. Proven experience with regulatory compliance is critical for success in this role.
  • Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field, business administration, or another related field.
  • License/Certification: Valid NM driver’s license and BLS required. Valid NM RN License.
