Community Development Manager
A community development manager is a professional who works to identify and solve community problems by developing, implementing and maintaining programs, working with partners and securing resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain workforce development program operations daily, including case management, data management, training and direct services to clients.
- Manage contract requirements enforced by funders, including PA’s DHS.
- Cultivate relationships and partnerships with employers and other workforce development providers.
- Cultivate relationships with community members, stakeholders and other community-based organizations.
- Submit reports as required by management and funders.
- Participate in various community development programs, projects and activities as assigned for temporary or permanent basis. This may include:
- Economic Development
- Community Development
- Neighborhood Development
- Housing
- Environment/Community Beautification
- Zoning
- Community Engagement/Outreach
- Southwest Globe Times community newspaper.
- Jumpstart Southwest – small housing developer training
Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is largely based on workforce development contract funding. It is expected that the contract will go on indefinitely. This position will play a large part in the success of the contract funding.
Preferred Requirements.
- An interest in improving the quality of life in Southwest Philadelphia.
- A Bachelor’s degree or 2-3 years experience in community development.
- Ability to work flexible hours to attend community events/meetings.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to write well.
- A positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and have initiative to be productive alone, ability to take initiative to meet program goals
- Project coordination/management, including data management
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Problem solving ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace and graphic/flyer creation (Canva, Publisher, etc.)
- Speaking French, Spanish or Vietnamese a plus.
Annual Salary: $45,000

Work Location: Southwest CDC’s Offices in Southwest Philadelphia.
Working from home will be based on duties. E.g. when conducting two-week training sessions, working from home will be suspended.
