What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solar Roof and Panel Installer position at Southwest Corridor?
The Solar Roof and Panel Installer will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the solar installation process are completed in a timely manner to ensure that the completion date is met. As part of the clean energy economy, the ideal candidate will be working with solar to install, inspect, and repair Tesla solar roof systems as well as traditional solar panel systems. The Solar Roof and Panel Installer can support a solar array; ensure that any cuts or holes made in the roof during the installation of solar panels/tiles and mounting racks are properly repaired and sealed; and capable of installing mounting systems and structural supports for rooftop solar energy systems.
The Solar Roof and Panel Installer is responsible for assisting with the roofing portion of the solar installation process and will ensure the highest quality installation possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Able to install conduit for attic and roof worksites, when penetration through the roof for wire pulls. Must be able to flash all penetrations properly.
- Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on quality and safety.
- Participate in required training programs.
- Knowledge and experience in basic carpentry as well as trade math.
- Broad knowledge of all roof products and installation (single ply, tile, shingle, TPO, PV and metal roofing systems).
- Must be comfortable with heights and climbing ladders.
- Knowledge and experience using handheld and power tools are important.
- Must be able to tolerate working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Use the proper safety equipment for safe installation practices as directed. When in the attic use proper floor boards to avoid damage to drywall on the ceiling below rafters.
- Perform Installation of stand-off’s and all penetrations with the highest level of artisanship and workmanship.
- Be efficient and productive during installations.
- Follow instructions of the Residential roofing Supervisor and superintendent.
- Follow Construction Job Flow Procedures.
- Perform all roofing duties. (Including but not limited to tile repair/replacements. And all other aspects of roof work the company is contracted to complete).
- Ensure accuracy of your own time as recorded by the Solar/Roofing Supervisor.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- An understanding of construction drawings & blue prints (roofing portions).
- Minimum of 2 years job related experience (Construction).
- Good organizational skills, detail oriented, efficient, and reliable.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Team Player, ability to work in a fast paced environment, flexible, and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
- Able to work productively as a crew member.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week or more if required.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout workdays.
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle.
