Shift: 2nd Shift 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Porter ensures that the common areas and all floors and walkways of facility are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times to provide for the care and welfare of our residents in a healthful environment. The Porter respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. This is a safety sensitive position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
It is understood that every incidental duty connected with operations listed in the job description is not always specifically described, and that employees, at the discretion of management, may be required to perform duties not within their job descriptions. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.
- Maintains all floors in the required manner
- Empties all trash receptacles and picks up miscellaneous trash on floor as needed
- Handles recycling as needed
- Ensures that all entranceways are clean, maintained and safe
- Follows cleaning procedures in a safe manner
- Maintains equipment in good working condition and returns it to the proper storage locations after use
- Checks stock and notifies supervisor of supply needs
- Moves furniture
- Sets up, assists with decorating and breaks down special events
- Writes up maintenance work orders
- Participates in ongoing in-service education and attends meetings
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted primarily in health care facility. The occupational exposure for this position is category 1. This position involves a wide variety of environmental and atmospheric conditions. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. This position frequently requires working within strict deadlines, under stressful conditions and with a variety of personalities, who may at times be emotional.
