General Description:
This position is responsible for operating a 22,000# capacity diesel forklift to move, stack, load, or unload material, parts, finished goods, etc.
Essential Duties:
· Responsible for transporting material from one location to another in a safe and controlled manner.
· Assists in proper loading and unloading of customer material.
· Identifies and organizes material by size, category and customer.
· Confers with leads and/or supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production or customer problems.
· Visually inspects forklift for any safety or mechanical problems before operation.
· Receives written or oral instructions for work assignments.
Requirements
Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A certified forklift operator is required.
Experience:
At least one to three years of experience operating a 22,000# capacity diesel forklift is required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of specific and general safety policies and procedures as relates to the plant and the position.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Work Environment:
Consists of smoke, chemical fumes, and hot and cold temperatures.
Physical Demands:
Majority of the time is spend sitting. Also standing, walking, stooping, reaching, bending and getting on/off the forklift. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have good eye hand coordination.
