POSITION INFORMATION
Position summary:
This position is responsible for accurate data entry into medical record for all new referrals, verification of insurance benefits and communication to patients regarding financial liability. Demonstrates an ability to find solutions to problems and keeps management informed of patterns regarding billing edits, compliance issues, payment and or other issues with specific payers. Works independently to obtain patient benefit verifications for all Home Health services patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent required. Knowledge of medical terms is required.
Required length and type of experience:
- Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare office setting required. Home care office experience preferred.
Required licensure, certification or registry:
- None
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Below are the duties and responsibilities for this position:
- Reviews, verifies and resolves insurance verification data and patient account inquiries with complete documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Utilizes all resources possible to obtain updated information and resolutions including payer websites.
- Discusses patient insurance coverage with the patient to promote understanding of coverage scope and benefits.
- Complete appropriate financial consent forms for field staff to present to patient for signature.
- Completes data entry into electronic medical record and other systems, generating reports and proofreading for accuracy.
- Handles all customer service calls both internal and external in a professional and courteous manner.
- Entering or creating spreadsheets for additional projects and tracking purposes as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties within the job scope as requested by management.
