What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Intern (PRN/RELIEF) position at Southwest Health System, Inc.?
This internship will provide opportunities to gain real-world work experience and meet people in the nursing occupation and health care industry. It will provide a chance to see how the concepts and theories learned in nursing school play out in the workplace.
The Nurse Intern will be able to operate independently in a nurse assistant/tech role. Under the supervision of a mentor, the Nurse Intern is responsible for assisting the department in which they are assigned by providing limited nursing care and ancillary assistance while expanding their knowledge and understanding of nursing. The Nurse Intern will also be learning the processes, workflow, documentation, and skills in a variety of clinical and ancillary departments.
Regulatory/Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed 1 semester of an accredited RN education program.
- Current BLS certification.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong communication skills.

As a condition of employment by Southwest Health System (SHS), you will be required to authorize SHS to conduct a background check prior to your commencing work at SHS, which includes a criminal investigation and verification of citizenship/immigration status, employment history, and education. If you are selected for this position, prior to appointment, you will also be subject to a drug testing for illegal drug use. SHS positions are subject to a Post Offer-Pre Work Screen. This physical exam will determine the capability of the applicant to perform the essential functions.
