What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Coach- High School (stipend job posting) position at SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL?
To establish and maintain, according to the Little Rock School District goals and objectives that will lead to a competitive swimming program and other assigned sports.
This position is tied to a teaching position on a Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus a benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSD’s salary placement guidelines. FLSA: EXEMPT.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree minimum.
- Must have a valid Arkansas teacher’s license.
- Must meet State Department of Education requirements for coaching endorsement.
- Must meet Arkansas Activities Association requirements for coaches.
- Evidence of strong commitment to quality education.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
- Meets and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the times designated. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals – establishes clearly objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in sport involved.
- Adheres to District, State and Arkansas Activities Association’s regulations regarding eligibility of players.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
