We are seeking a skilled, experienced (ideally, 7 years) Lead Structured Cabling Technician to join our team. Comprehensive training is provided to support our structured cabling and wireless microwave broadband solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems for copper and optical networks.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, including ANSI, EIA/TIA, National Electric Code, and BICSI standards.
- Safely operate ladders, aerial lifts, and power tools.
- Oversee compliance with OSHA/MSHA safety requirements.
- Coordinate project schedules and timelines between SWLAN Project Managers and customers.
- Maintain high standards of quality, professionalism, and customer relations.
- Support the wireless team in the installation and maintenance of wireless networks.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of structured cabling systems (CAT5, CAT6, Fiber Optic):
- Design, implement, and conduct compliance testing for Ethernet Category 5e/6/6A and fiber optic networks.
- Install networking equipment and accessories, including data racks, patch panels, wireless access points, microwave equipment, and Ethernet switches.
- Set up cable support structures such as conduits, innerduct pathways, cable trays, ladder racks, and j-hooks.
- Familiarity with industry standards, tools, and best practices.
- Experience with or knowledge of wireless solutions (e.g., Cambium, Ceragon, SIAE, Aviat, Siklu, Tarana, Radwin, 4RF) is a plus:
- Install wireless infrastructure components like antennas, transmission lines, and antenna mounts.
- Understand LAN/WAN network topologies and industry standards.
- Experience with network equipment installation and cable support structures.
- Ability to work on ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in various environments, including at heights and in temperature-controlled settings.
- Minimal travel required.
- Strong communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal, electronic).
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
