- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation, including during embarkation and disembarkation.
- Manage student behavior and enforce bus rules to maintain a safe environment.
- Be familiar with assigned bus routes, stops, and schedules.
- Follow designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Keep abreast of any route changes or detours and communicate them to the dispatcher as necessary.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure that it is in safe operating condition.
- Report any defects or maintenance issues to the transportation department.
- Keep the bus clean and well-maintained.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as accidents, breakdowns, or student medical issues.
- Be familiar with and follow emergency procedures to ensure the safety of students.

- Valid CDL with passenger endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Completion of required training, including bus driver training and safety courses.
- Ability to manage a large vehicle safely, with good spatial awareness.
- Effective communication skills and a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Ability to work well with students and maintain discipline on the bus.
- Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
