Summary
The Senior Accountant is integral to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. They oversee the preparation and reconciliation of financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes. This role directly influences the company's profitability, cost management, and overall financial health by providing timely financial reporting and analysis, supporting audits, and optimizing accounting workflows.

- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in a timely manner, in collaboration with the accounting team.
- Perform detailed analysis of financial data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal reporting standards.
- Develop and provide both recurring and ad hoc financial reports and performance analysis to management.
- Account Reconciliation & Discrepancy Resolution:
- Conduct monthly and quarterly reconciliations for general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate maintenance of financial records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified through financial analysis, providing solutions to enhance financial accuracy.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts with a focus on detail, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvements:
- Implement and manage internal audits to drive efficiencies and improve accuracy in accounting processes.
- Document, review, and update accounting procedures regularly to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
- Spearhead the development and execution of process improvements, ensuring effective internal controls and streamlined workflows.
- Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:
- Perform inventory analysis, ensuring accuracy in cost valuations and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Work closely with supply chain management to understand product-related costs and allocate them efficiently across product lines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training:
- Collaborate effectively with other departments, particularly in accounts payable, cash disbursements, and cash receipts processes.
- Drive growth within the team by facilitating cross-training initiatives, enhancing overall department capability and knowledge.
- System Conversion & Special Projects:
- Lead the transition to upgraded accounting software and systems, ensuring a smooth conversion process with robust internal controls.
- Assist with the execution of special accounting projects and initiatives as assigned, contributing to the continuous improvement of accounting practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
- Experience with cost accounting and inventory management preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and auditing standards.
- Proficient in accounting software and computerized ledger systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of financial processes and ability to drive process improvements.
