The Southwest Mission Acceleration Center is dedicated to direct collaboration with stakeholders across the defense innovation ecosystem. Our programming includes critical technology & venture creation, lab-to-market commercialization, support to develop prototypes, and providing training and support for entrepreneurs and the tech workforce needed to ensure these startups and our mission partners succeed.
The Engagement Manager plays a crucial role in our organization's growth through targeted communications, branding initiatives, lead generation, and active engagement with partners across government, academia, and industry. A successful Engagement Manager will leverage their experience to articulate our value proposition, foster key relationships, and position our organization for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications
- Develop and execute a strategic communications plan to enhance visibility and engagement with new companies and investors interested in defense and dual-use technology.
- Identify and clearly articulate the organization’s unique value proposition for these two key stakeholder groups.
- Develop and implement event-specific communications strategies to ensure cohesive messaging and outreach.
Lead Generation & Matchmaking
- Identify and engage potential strategic partners and funding opportunities to support growth objectives.
- Develop and execute lead generation strategies to expand the organization's network and influence.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Collaborate across multiple internal and external stakeholders to define, design, and develop new programming to solve critical needs.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of innovators and researchers, ensuring regular touchpoints and updates.
- Actively promote and sell the organization's programs to potential stakeholders.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on innovation metrics and activities across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in strategic communications, business development, or investor relations.
- Strong understanding of branding and marketing strategies, with experience managing websites and design elements.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage investors, partners, and stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to analyze market trends and identify strategic growth opportunities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to drive initiatives from conception to execution.
- Strong decision-making skills
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and interdisciplinary teams to achieve a shared goal
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects at one time
