Our group synthesizes materials and coatings to enhance the optical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, or structural properties of components. As a member of the team, you will help develop creative solutions for existing and next-generation technologies for both government and industry clients. You will have the opportunity to work with scientists and engineers who are experts in their fields and gain exposure to a diverse array of projects and technologies.

Objectives of this Role:
- Work alongside engineering staff to perform experiments in material synthesis and characterization, thin film coating fabrication, process optimization and development.
- Be a solution-oriented problem solver that exercises creativity and independent judgement in determining approaches to solve a wide range of technical problems.
- Learn new technical skills to complete project work and develop new materials and processes.
- Get exposed to a variety of projects and real world technical problems.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Assist with building components, subunits, models, and adaptations of standard equipment.
- Performs experiments; documents in lab notebook, interprets data to determine pass/fail criteria for next steps
- Hands-on work in laboratory environments.
- Quickly learn chemical and material synthesis processes.
- Assemble data and contribute to reports.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelors or a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering.
- 0 years: Strong interest in materials, chemical engineering, technical challenges, and problem solving
- Strong Communication Skills.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
