Who We Are :
Join the SwRI ITC Support Services team that provides Oracle database support for the Institute Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP), and other databases as needed. Hybrid schedule is available.
Objectives of this Role :
Serve as database analyst and administrator for the Institute's Oracle based ERP system and other databases.
This is a critical position for the Institute that allows for carrying out the day to day activities of the Institute.
Provide assistance in resolving issues and maintaining the core Oracle database environment as well as ERP software, Deltek Costpoint and other supplemental applications as needed.
Work with a team to evaluate new technologies such as cloud and new Oracle architecture features.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities :
Provide support to the ERP, Deltek's Costpoint product; including upgrades, troubleshooting, and initiation of support calls.
Database responsibilities include providing support to Oracle system maintenance, database backups & restores, and database upgrade tasks; for an on-premises Oracle environment on a UNIX platform.
Evaluate cloud technologies to support database instances.
Assist in the performing performance monitoring and tuning on Oracle databases.
Participate in the architecture design of the Oracle database environment on a new hardware platform
Participate in the evaluation of cloud hosted databases
Provide support to multiple database environments to include Oracle, MySQL, SQL server, etc.
Participate in the remediation of security vulnerabilities in supported database environments
Requirements :
Requires a Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, any related degree in Information Technology.
Continuing education and related certifications (Oracle certifications) with 10 years of directly related professional level experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
With a Bachelors degree; 6 years of experience as an Oracle database administrator, or in a supporting role to database administration is required
Experience should include performing installs, upgrades and migrations of Oracle software in an Enterprise environment on a UNIX / Linux based platform.
Customer experience interfacing with end users in support of an ERP system or application
Ability to interface and facilitate issues with the ERP with end users and vendor
Experience or working knowledge with the use of Oracle's RMAN, and Data Guard products for high availability and disaster recovery
Experience or working knowledge with hosting databases in the cloud, and with Oracle Weblogic Application Server is beneficial
Experience with Oracle Database Appliances (ODA) is beneficial
Ability to write shell scripts on a UNIX / Linux platform is beneficial
Experience with other databases such as SQL Server , MySQL, and Access is beneficial
