Job Title: Histology Technician
Position: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)
Hourly Wage: Will vary depending on experience
Job Description: We are seeking a histology technician to join our independently owned dermatopathology lab. This technician needs to perform all technical duties related to the production of histo-pathological slides.
Histotech Responsibilities:
· specimen accessioning
· grossing (if qualified)
· proper tissue processing
· embedding tissue in paraffin
· precision microtomy
· preparing slides for routine H&E
· organizing and filing slides
· equipment maintenance
· other duties (preparing materials for next day, disposing of reagents and chemicals appropriately, participating in CLIA preparation, etc)
· ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with lab director/pathologists
· must follow safety regulations as described in the standard operating procedures
· organized, dependable, and team oriented
Education:
Preferred Education:
- Successful completion of an accredited histotechnician program with a background in biology or chemistry.
- Associate degree in laboratory science or biology.
Experience:
Minimum Experience Preferred:
- One year in a general histology lab
Certifications/Licenses:
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are preferred but not necessarily required for this position:
- Histology Technician (HT) or Histologist Laboratory Technologist (HTL) American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or eligible.
