What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian 10pm -6am position at Southwest Steel Processing LLC?
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Custodian to join our team. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in a forging manufacturing plant. This role ensures all work areas, restrooms, break rooms, and common spaces are properly cleaned and maintained to support a safe and efficient working environment.
Job Duties:
- Sweep, mop, and scrub floors in production areas, offices, break rooms, and restrooms.
- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and replenishing supplies.
- Wipe down and disinfect surfaces such as tables, door handles, and equipment where required.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and restock as needed.
- Ensure proper disposal of scrap materials and debris in compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or minor repairs.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Report any maintenance or safety hazards to management promptly.
- Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership. Also, other duties assigned by manager.
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Driver’s License
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred, especially in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and safe handling procedures.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuums.
- Exposure to high-temperature environments, dust, and noise typical of a forging plant.
- Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
