What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forge Technician 6AM-6PM (2) position at Southwest Steel Processing LLC?
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Forge Technician to join our team. As a Forge Technician you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing and fabrication of steel products, operating, and maintaining forging equipment to produce high-quality metal components. This role requires expertise in handling heated materials, operating presses, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Duties:
- Operate forging presses and other equipment to shape metal components.
- Monitor heater temperatures and heating cycles to ensure proper material properties.
- Perform die changes, tooling setups, and adjustments to meet production requirements.
- Inspect forged parts for quality, ensuring they meet company and customer specifications.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions.
- Follow safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate production records and complete the required documentation.
- Identify and troubleshoot process issues, working closely with maintenance and quality teams.
- Assist with routine maintenance of forging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Train on saw, heater, booth operator, trim press, blaster, crane, forklift, and downstacker operations.
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods throughout the day
- Be able to lift or move at least 50lbs
