Job Summary: Teach Welding Technology courses. Courses to be taught include basic shop safety, math,
industrial blueprint reading, metal fabrication, oxy-fuel welding & cutting, pipe welding, arc welding, and
use of power tools. Maintain classroom/lab equipment and supplies. Advise students in the subject area
and maintain attendance records, grade reports, and all other instructor-related documentation. Attend
meetings/commencements. Assist in registration, recruitment, placement and follow-up of students.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of welding technology; provide leadership and supervision of the Welding
Technology program development. Utilize modern/effective methods to create/maintain a successful and
productive teaching/learning environment. Serve on college committees. Ability to communicate effectively
with business/industry, students, and college personnel.
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Department: Welding
Salary: Commensurate with education and teaching experience based on salary schedule. Nine-month,
non-tenure track, faculty position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Level 1 Certificate in Welding Required; Associate’s Degree (or higher) preferred; Welding
Licensure(s)/Certifications (minimum AWS 5G)
Experience & Training: Minimum five years of full-time experience in welding occupations. Teaching
experience preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
Additional Qualification Requirements: Must be able to demonstrate experience working effectively with
individuals from diverse backgrounds. Must have excellent English, writing, and oral communication skills.
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate,
with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of the job. Candidate must be authorized
to work in the U.S. and must provide verifiable credentials; successful completion of background checks
specified for the position. Must have a valid Driver's License and be insurable through SWTX insurers. Travel
required to other locations served by the college.
