Job Title: Financial Aid Application Officer
Job Description: Southwest University is seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Financial Aid Application Officer to join our financial aid team. In this role, you will provide exceptional service to our students by guiding them through the process of completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and assisting them in understanding their financial aid options. Your knowledge of financial aid regulations, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn will be crucial in ensuring students receive the support they need to make informed decisions regarding their education financing.
Responsibilities:
- Review completed FAFSA forms for accuracy, identifying any errors or inconsistencies and guiding students through the correction process.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations; ensure all processes adhere to these guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to financial aid applications and disbursements in the institution's database.
- Work closely with other departments, such as admissions and registrar, to coordinate the financial aid process and ensure a seamless experience for students.
- Provide personalized guidance to students, explaining the purpose and importance of the FAFSA and its role in determining eligibility for financial aid programs.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and deadlines to provide accurate information and guidance to students.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as admissions and registrar's office, to ensure seamless integration of financial aid processes and student information.
- Explain various types of financial aid programs, including grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study opportunities, and assist students in understanding their eligibility and potential funding options.
- Assess students' financial aid needs based on their FAFSA information and other relevant documents, and provide appropriate advice and resources.
- Participate in training programs provided by Southwest University to enhance knowledge of FAFSA procedures and regulations, ensuring the ability to provide accurate and up-to-date guidance to students.
- Maintain detailed and confidential student records, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
- Assist students with completing additional financial aid applications, such as state grants or institutional scholarships, and guide them through any required steps or supplementary documents.
- Collaborate with the financial aid team to evaluate and process financial aid applications, verify student information, and determine eligibility for aid programs.
- Address and resolve issues related to financial aid and loan processing in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge of financial aid regulations, customer service skills, and technology systems used in financial aid administration.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree (preferred)
- 3 Years of Customer Service experience (preferred)
- Training in FAFSA Regulations will be provided by Southwest University
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.50 per hour
