Job Description
Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Southwest Virginia Community College is currently accepting applications for hourly Radiology Clinical Instructors to provide education and supervision in a clinical setting for radiography students consistent with the established standard of medical care in radiological sciences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Becomes knowledgeable of program goals clinical objectives, and clinical evaluation systems.
- Provides students with appropriate and adequate clinical supervision.
- Provides students with appropriate and adequate clinical instruction.
- Performs clinical competency evaluation for each student assigned to their supervision.
- Proffers a positive professional attitude toward students and the teaching process.
- Participates in continuing education to improve and maintain competence in evaluation skills.
- Meets regularly with program officials to communicate student progress, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Assists in maintaining student clinical records.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with program policy.
- May participate in the designated student selection process for entry into the program.
- Participates in meeting and serves on committees consistent with the goals of the educational program.
- Comprehends JRCERT Standards
- Complies with program policies and procedures and JRCERT Standards
- Actively participates in meetings, to include by not be limited to : Division meetings, Faculty meetings, Program specific meetings, Assessment Committee meetings, Clinical Instructor meetings, and Advisory Committee meetings as invited.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with program officials
- May be required to teach specific topics, labs, etc. either in campus labs or in the clinical setting relevant to ARRT Radiography registry content areas
- May be required to travel to various clinical sites
- Abides by FERPA regulations
- Maintains ARRT certification and appropriate continuing education
- Maintains appropriate American Heart Association CPR certification
- Maintains shot records, annual PPD testing, etc. as required by clinical facilities
- Wears PPE as required by facility and / or patient condition

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications
Shall be credentialed in Radiography in good standing by their respective credentialing agency (ARRT).
Shall document the equivalent of two (2) years full time professional experience specific to the modality.
Shall meet the criteria for the position as established by the sponsoring institution.
Ability to use instructional and clinical tracking technologies.
Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association.
Ability to wear appropriate PPE as required by clinical facility and / or patient condition.
Must be able to pass criminal background screening.
Additional Considerations
Prior experience teaching within a JRCERT accredited program.
