Job Summary:
The Dental Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing the dental department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care are met, and developing strategies to promote dental health within the community. This leadership role involves direct patient care, supervising dental staff, and implementing evidence-based best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor the dental team, including dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and administrative staff.
- Ensure that high-quality dental care services are provided to all patients.
- Oversee and ensure the adherence to all dental protocols, policies, and safety regulations.
- Provide direct clinical care and manage patient treatments, diagnoses, and oral health planning.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient access to dental care and education.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers within the center to deliver integrated care.
- Stay current on dental trends, technologies, and industry standards, and integrate new techniques as appropriate.
- Build strong relationships with the community and local organizations to promote preventive dental health and education.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and maintain necessary certifications.
Qualifications:
- DMD or DDS from an accredited dental school.
- Active state licensure in Virginia (or eligible for licensure).
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in dentistry, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of current dental practices, techniques, and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse, underserved populations.
- A passion for community health and a commitment to providing care for all patients, regardless of background or ability to pay.
- Previous experience working in a community health or nonprofit setting is preferred but not required.
