Our team is looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate optometric technician to join our growing practice. We also have a dry eye clinic that is growing in which you will assist in. This is a unique role that combines clinical and administrative duties, ensuring smooth operations and an outstanding patient experience.
Job Description: We are seeking a professional, reliable, and organized individual to fill the position of an optometric technician. This hybrid role will require both clinical duties to assist in eye exams and administrative duties to provide excellent customer service and manage patient flow. The dry eye assistant plays a vital role in supporting the clinic’s dry eye program by assisting with patient evaluations, treatments, and education. We perform Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL), Radio Frequency (RF) and Low Light Level Therapy (LLLT). Candidates would be expected to help maintain efficient clinic operations by managing appointments, recording patient information, and preparing diagnostic tests. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for patient care. We are willing to train the right person for this role!
Key Responsibilities:
Optometric Technician Duties:
- Assist in patient history taking and performing preliminary tests (visual acuity, tonometry, visual fields, etc.)
- Prepare patients for eye exams by ensuring equipment is set up and functioning properly
- Document patient information and exam results in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment
Dry Eye Assistant:
- Assist in performing dry eye diagnostic tests.
- Educate patients on dry eye treatment options, including in-office procedures and at-home care.
- Provide instructions for the use of artificial tears, warm compresses, lid hygiene, and other treatments.
- Help with in-office treatments such as IPL therapy, LipiFlow, Low Level Light Therapy or manual expression (as per clinic protocols).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or medical assistant is a plus
- Strong knowledge of basic ophthalmic testing and equipment is a plus
- Basic knowledge of eye anatomy and common dry eye treatments is a plus.
- Proficient in using EHR and scheduling software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask, work efficiently, and manage time effectively
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on patient care and satisfaction
